Formentera Spain

Beautiful white beaches and a beautiful buzz

If you want to come to a beautiful island, so beautiful that there is a constant stream of visitors every day from Ibiza and, if you want an atmosphere that is casual and feels like a beach town without too much pomp and ceremony, then this is your spot. It is not an island of mega villas (at least not yet) but rather of simple houses that go well with the casual atmosphere on the island. Long a playground of the Italians, the island is definitely a place to relax and let your hair down. A boat is almost a must and remember you have to get there from Ibiza.

Once on the island you will find a few very good restaurants (Juan & Andrea being the most famous), lots of lovely sandy beaches (unfortunately sometimes also a lit of jelly-fish), and lots of open spaces. Most people rent mopeds on the island or quads but you can also rent a car and a boat is a definite plus. You have quickly covered the island along its four axes in under 60 minutes if you want but no one would think of rushing about Formentera. You might choose a different spot of the island to explore each day but it is really not very large. The locals are friendly if you can put up with all the visitors in the buys periods.

Our favourite beaches are Illetes (gets a bit crowded in high season but nice to go for lunch and definitely the people watching spot) or Migjor where most people are naked and you swim in shallow waters that are warm before Ibiza's are because of their shallow depth. There are several other favourites but we won't tell you about these you will have to come and discover them yourself.
